Balancing Play and Learning
Museum experiences often prioritize learning and interpretation, but playful interaction can make visitors more willing to participate and explore.
I investigated how game mechanics could be integrated into HMD-based museum AR without turning the experience into a conventional game.
The goal was to balance playfulness, exploration, and learning.
Puzzle-Based Interaction

Visitors reconstruct parts of a Triceratops around the physical exhibit, using spatial assembly as a way to observe and understand its structure.
Drawing-Based Interaction

Visitors trace and reveal anatomical features through hand-based drawing, using interaction to direct attention toward important details.
Action-Based Interaction

Visitors move through the environment to identify and catch virtual objects, combining exploration, movement, and learning.
My Role
I designed and implemented three HMD-AR interaction concepts based on puzzle, drawing, and action-game mechanics, and evaluated how they influenced engagement, playfulness, and museum exploration.
